Today was David's and my last "Date Day." It was the last because this is the last Friday Grayson will be in school. Next year he will go on Tuesday and Thursday, so it will be all four of us on David's every-other-Friday off. We decided to something kind of special and see another Memphis site we hadn't taken in yet. After dropping Grayson off at school we headed down to Mud Island. We'd been wanting to check it out since we re-watched "The Firm" with Tom Cruise, and part of the movie took place there. We decided to do the whole experience and parked our car and bought tickets to ride the monorail. It was really fun seeing another city landmark, and the actual scale model of the path of the Mississippi River was pretty interesting too. We're planning to go back with Grayson so he can enjoy splashing around.
I'd say the only thing that put a damper on the experience was the crazy woman with 3 little kids who wore her bikini there!! See below for a picture of the set-up and you'll realize how ridiculous it is for an adult to wear a swimming suit period, let alone a bikini - Ha!

The giant wheel of cable that moves the monorail back and forth to the island.
Daddy and Addy getting ready for the trip across!
The Pyramid
Mud Island Ampitheater
Part of the winding Mississippi - it's about a foot wide and 3 or 4 inches deep in most places!
Now picture a woman with 3 little kids prancing around in a bikini - totally out of place!!
Me and My Honey :)
While on Mud Island we noticed all the cute trolleys running downtown, so we decided to head back on Saturday with Grayson and let him take his first trolley ride. He likes Thomas the Train, so he enjoyed the experience. We got a little more of the downtown experience than we bargained for with several homeless looking people riding who looked like they might just not get off all day, but overall it was a success!
Big girl Addy!
Grayson even wore his train shirt!
