First Fever :(

We have been so lucky to have such a healthy little boy up to this point. Because I've been able to stay at home with him he hasn't gotten exposed to all the kid germs yet. We even survived 2 weeks in our Church nursery without incident, but then that all changed...

On Wednesday morning I went to a mom's group Bible study at a different Church, and Grayson was in that Church's nursery for a couple of hours during our meeting. By the middle of the night on Friday he woke up with a 101.5 temperture. Of course we were very concerned not having been through any of this before. Thank goodness our doctor's office has an after hours nurse hotline through Vanderbilt, so we made the call. We started giving him baby Tylenol and called first thing Saturday morning to see the doctor. Luckily our doctor's office also has weekend hours! We got in at 9:00, and his fever was down to 99. The doctor felt like it was a virus, and we kept on monitoring his temp and giving him Tylenol. It hit a high point of 102.8 on Saturday night, was down to 99 again Sunday morning, and then up to 102.4 Sunday night. When he was still at 101.4 this morning, we went back to the doctor for another check. This time they had to prick the poor little pumkin's finger to get a blood sample. The doctor said it still looks like a virus, and he's eating really well from both the bottle and his cereal, so we're just supposed to check it for one more day.

The whole thing is very concerning for first time parents, and we hate to see him uncomfortable and unhappy. He's mostly just slept the whole weekend, and likes it best when we just hold him!! Overall though, he's been a real champ and in pretty good spirits. He's still smiling, and he had his most laughter yet on Saturday when he was watching the puppies jump on and off the couch and wrestle. He must of cracked up at them for close to 5 minutes!

We were supposed to head up to Louisville to see David's parents this weekend, but that got cancelled when Grayson got sick. This is a picture of Grayson happy as can be on Friday night when we were getting his big boy car seat set up for the trip! Seriously, is that my little baby boy?!?! He looks so grown up!
