Winter Zoo Day

Today we had an unusually warm day for January, so we thought it called for a trip to the zoo! We hadn't been for a couple of months, and we'd missed it. It turned out to be one of the best trips we've had, because all the animals were out and about enjoying the weather like we were!

This female lion was so cute playing with the ball. We were just sure she was going to knock it in the water, but she never did.

The male lion was just watching her for the longest time...

And then they ran and pounced on each other! I've never seen them do anything besides sit down before!

I love this wild face - Addy was having fun too!

This snow leopard was in a playful mood too. It poised itself on this log, and then all of the sudden would jump against the rock wall beside it and do a flip. Amazing, and it did it about 5 times while we were watching!

Even the lazy hippos with their tummies so fat they nearly touch the ground were up and about today!

Another shocker was that both the male and female panda bears were awake and walking around. I don't think we've ever seen the male awake before.

The polar bear was also putting on quite a show! I've never seen it play so much! It was playing with the giant barrel that floats in the water. It would stand on the edge and jump onto the barrel! Talk about a cannon ball! It also did many laps by the window so Grayson could see up close. So awesome!

Finally, the grizzly bears were really active too. They had put out some Christmas trees, and the bears were rolling around wrestling with them.

Enjoying our peanut butter sandwiches in the grizzly house before heading home.
It was a great day!
