Darn that leaky roof and the constant rain we get in Memphis! Earlier this week we just happened to be out in the backyard getting some fresh air and glanced up at the roof. Much to our dismay we noticed a softball sized hole in the shingles! We're not even sure how long it had been there, because we hadn't been in the backyard in probably a few months. Then we went inside and looked in the ceiling in David's office, and sure enough, there was a big wet spot. Boo!!! Not a good surprise. Our initial thought was that some critter had chewed it's way in, because a lot of our friends told us stories about squirrels and such. Luckily we realized that the hole led directly to the attic beside Grayson's room, where we would have definitely heard any animals running around. We called a handyman out to fix it, and when he lifted up the shingles he found this giant hole! All the wood was rotted away. He did a patch job that ended up not working, so we had to call out a second crew to take all of his off and do it right. The whole process took a couple of frustrating weeks to get resolved. Luckily, I think that now the leak has stopped! We're hoping for no more surprises like this!!
