Happy Thanksgiving 2012!
This year we split up our trip on the way up to Kentucky. We headed out Monday morning with a destination of Nashville. The Haskamps hosted us for the night, and we had a wonderful time catching up with them. Then on Tuesday morning we loaded the car back up, and made the second leg of our trip up to Mary Ann and Cary's house for the Proctor family Thanksgiving in Kentucky. We arrived in time for an afternoon nap and an evening of catching up. Melissa arrived late Tuesday night from San Diego. After lunch on Wednesday we decided to check out the Kentucky Horse Park. We had a great time walking around the grounds and looking at the horses. Wednesday night after the kids went to bed David and I were able to get away to a local theater to see a 9:30 showing of the new Bond movie "Skyfall." It was completely insane to go that late since it's a 2 1/2 hour movie, but we figured we might not have another chance. It was just about worth the next day's exhaustion! Thursday morning we were up at the crack of dawn and ready start the festivities. We began with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - always a crowd pleaser! By mid-morning the rest of the Proctors had arrived from Virginia, and then the kids really had an audience - Ha! There is nothing Grayson likes better than the attention and entertainment of the entire family. He just thought he was in heaven when there were five adults, but when Uncle Bob, Aunt Cindy, Christina, and Collin and MoMo arrived that was even better. He had SO much fun showing off for everyone. Addy had a great time too, especially snuggling with Christina! One funny thing that happened was that Grayson happened to be watching when Uncle Bob arrived carrying sacks of Christmas presents for everyone to take home with them. He thought he looked like Santa Claus, so the rest of the time he referred to him as Uncle "Claus" Bob! Hilarious! Needless to say we all adopted the name too :)
We spent the next couple of days eating way too much of every kind of good food and enjoying being with family. We even enjoyed a walk down memory lane with an impromptu slide show of Proctor childhood memories. We all got several good laughs out of that! I wish we all lived closer together, and we were sad to see everyone go their separate ways on Saturday.
