Sippy Cup Saga
So we should have been trying to get Grayson used to a sippy cup since his 9 month check up, but I've been putting it off since all he gets is his bottle. Our pediatrician told us to get him started and that the longer we waited the harder it would be. We got him his first sippy cup at Christmas, but he never really took to it. We thought it wasn't any big deal. Then a couple of weeks ago I read that using a bottle past a year can lead to tooth decay, so we decided to get serious. Let me just say that Grayson LOVES his bottle!! I had no idea what a big deal it would be to him to try drinking his formula out of a cup instead. Well he fusses and cries and kicks and pushes it away! We've been trying for a couple of weeks now and just had our first breakthrough this afternoon. After trying different times of the day, before the bottle, after the bottle, during the bottle, and two different types of sippy cups, the third kind of sippy cup seems to be the key! The first two kinds of spouts didn't do the trick, but today we tried a soft silicone straw type and he drank about 1/2 an ounce before he was done. We're going to keep working with him!
