Month Eleven

Eleven months old! I can hardly believe it's almost been a year since Grayson was born. In some respects it seems like just yesterday! He is really becoming more of a little boy than a baby, and it's so fun to watch. He's actually learning how to "do" instead of always just "un-doing." Up until now he's only dumped stuff out, knocked things over, taken things off, etc. Now's he's starting to be able to put things in, on, and on top of, and he enjoys it! He really knows how to make his will/wants known, and it's sometimes both funny and frustrating. He really shows this when we put him in either his Exersaucer or high chair when we eat meals. He squawks like he's being tortured, but then gets the biggest grin on his face as soon as we get him out. I think this will improve when he can actually have something to eat with us!! He definitely knows what the word "no" means, but he can still pitch a fit with the best of them. He jabbers all the time, and now he's started pointing at things he's interested in or wants. He started with the puppy balls and would actually say "bah" when he saw them and wanted to play with them, but now pretty much everything is a "bah." Ha! He likes to make all sorts of noises with his mouth and tongue and likes to copy the things we do. He can also make a fish face.

He is so good with his hand eye coordination and can really focus on small objects, pick them up, and them transfer them from hand to hand. He does this with toys, and unfortunately with any little string, fuzz, leaf, etc. that he finds on the floor! We've shown him how we snap our fingers, and he tries to rub/snap his little fingers together just like us! He's also so good at waving now and dances/wiggles whenever he hears music. He has just started being able to stand up by himself a little, but usually when he realizes he's doing it he grabs on to something or sits down. He's still a little scared. He loves to walk all over the house, but cries or stomps his feet if you try to let go of his hand. Again, funny now, but really, stomping his feet already?!?! He's got 5 teeth now, 2 on bottom and 3 on top. The 4th one on top is about to break through. He's got the cutest little grin!

He's still not sleeping through the night, which I personally find ridiculous since 3 and 4 month olds can do it, but I'm trying to not let it drive me crazy! We occasionally take a step forward with a whole nights sleep only to take 5 steps back getting up 2-3 times a night for the next week. Truly maddening and a huge test of patience for me since I hold sleep so near and dear to my heart!!! Maybe he'll turn the corner at 1? He is such a sweet little boy and such a joy and blessing from God though! I know that these stages will be over before we know it, and he'll be all grown up, so I need to cherish every moment now!

As you can see it's getting harder and harder to get a good picture of him when he's looking at me and not moving!
